About us
Who we are
GPS Foundation is an international institution with public welfare purpose dedicated to becoming an umbrella foundation for all peace organizations world wide.
The GPS Foundation is built on the belief that a great majority of people on earth want peace. Peace is vital for a sustainable lifestyle to thrive. Peace is necessary to achieve a green planet and Sustainable Lifestyle to flourish. The GPS Foundation plans to become an umbrella for all recognised Peace Organizations and will liaise with and support the UN in every way possible.
The idea of establishing a Global Peace Center in Iceland is not new. Several important dignitaries and civilians over the years have expressed their opinion on this. Why; Because this well educated nation has no conflicts with other nations, it has no military and respects the rights of different colors, religions and genders to participate in discussions and decisions made on global scale.

Kristinn Sigtryggsson
Board Member
Kristinn graduated as an Authorised Accountant with honours and he and five of his colleagues overtook the practise from their mentor and former owner. Kristinn was appointed as their CEO. Under his management the team took the lead on the market, as they worked very well together, following new technologies closely and being the first Icelandic firm to tie up with an international firm, Coopers & Lybrand, now PWC.
Kristinn left the firm after seventeen successful years to take over a small airline as their CEO and try to build some competition with the country’s State supported airline. Kristinn manged to keep excellent atmosphere within the company, improving the quality of the service. The timing however had turned out to be wrong, mainly because of the Country’s economy taking a u turn to the worse and staying in that mode for a number of years. Also, the free sky in Europe was delayed, which made a great difference for a small airline.
The investors decided to cut their losses.
At this point Kristins life also took a u turn. The airline had been a tough school but taking too much toll of him. He wanted to spend more time on his calling from now on and try to make something of the opportunity that Iceland had to offer in terms of World Peace. The next few years he used to get organized.
After the 2008 crises many banks had to fight for their lives and probably the Icelandic banks were the only ones that went through a total reorganisation involving more focused risk monitoring and management. Kristinn spent quite some time on getting full understanding on measures already taken in different countries. Too many problems had in his opinion been left untouched.
This triggered the idea that a totally new approach to risk control was needed and the Banking Confidence (BC) business began evolving. A group of C Suite bankers was formed, with a great assistance from Laurence Goodman, a British management consultant. The group included prior C level bankers from Goldman Sachs, Santander, HSBC and more and they provided very useful input to the planning. Bankers Confidence’s main purpose was spotting faults in banks systems faster and act on them. At the same time another main purpose was to provide a new Peace organization with a solid backing in due course.
Great changes on the Global political scene caused BC to be put on ice at this stage and GPS Foundation given priority.
Global Peace and Sustainable Living Foundation was established (gpsfoundation.is) We chose to introduce very low member fees to open the door for people of all income levels to participate. This way we would be able to represent all peace-loving individuals, worldwide. With enough support from you, the people, we will be able to take on huge negotiation tasks.
We are simply introducing totally different and more effective, positive atmosphere approach in negotiating
Please trust us for changing the atmosphere on Earth from negative to positive and educate young and intelligent individuals, eager to improve public welfare Globally.
